TrueNorth Wellness Services offers five programs that provide children with the counseling that best meets their needs.
Intensive Behavioral Health Services (IBHS)
Intensive Behavioral Health Services (IBHS) support children and their families by providing intensive services in the home, school, and community settings as necessary. Also known as wraparound services, this program focuses on stabilizing symptoms and behaviors and transferring skills to the child’s natural support system.
Functional Family Therapy (FFT) (Adams, Cumberland, Dauphin, Lancaster, Lebanon, Perry and York Counties)
This strength-based program helps families understand the importance of communication and commitment, learn healthy coping and problem-solving strategies, and decrease risk in order to enhance protective factors contributing to success in the home, school and community.
School-Based Therapy Services
School-Based Therapy Services include programs that offer students in multiple school districts within Central PA have an opportunity to meet with therapists either on an outpatient basis, where students have weekly appointments in an office setting, or on a more integrated basis, where the therapist works as part of a therapeutic emotional support or autism support classroom. Group therapy, individual therapy, and behavioral support are provided on a regular basis throughout the school year.
Student Assistance Program (SAP)
The Student Assistance Program (SAP) was developed in Pennsylvania to serve students who are having difficulty in school due to alcohol/drug use, depression, or other mental health problems. The SAP seeks to assist and refer these students to appropriate in-school and community resources.
Once a referral has been received, TrueNorth Wellness Services works together with area school districts, students, and their families to develop a plan of action to offer support and resolve identified problems. Services provided by the SAP include:
- Professional consultation services to school districts
- Participation in school SAP core teams
- Assessment and referral services
- Mental heath counseling
- Drug and alcohol counseling
- Family counseling
- Group counseling
- Crisis intervention services
- Postvention services
- In-service trainings
- Educational workshops for students and parents
