School-Based Services are a wonderful part of TrueNorth where we strive to meet our clients where they are on their paths to wellness. Providing individual, group, and family therapy to clients from Kindergarten through HS graduation, we serve districts in Adams, Cumberland, Dauphin, Franklin, Fulton, and York counties. Clients receive individualized care based on their diagnoses and individualized treatment plan goals, as created by the client, parents, and school district input. School-based therapists are able to address multiple concerns including, but not limited to, grief, anger management, self-control, social skills, coping skills, adjustments to new environments or family situations, mood disorders, depression, anxiety, and various areas of trauma.
Parents benefit from not having to leave home or work to drive their child to an appointment at an office location after hours.
School personnel can rely on our therapists as clinical advocates for our clients to address mental health diagnoses and provide insight into the client’s perspectives and needs for accommodations within the school setting.
School-Based therapists can address family concerns and mediate communication between families and the clients to improve interactions and communication.
Despite these challenging times brought upon by Covid-19, School-Based services continues to meet the needs of clients in the various school districts. In just three years from 2018-2021, the Program more than doubled the services provided to children and achieved a nearly perfect score on the Satisfaction Survey (2021), to improve a client’s experience in being treated with dignity and respect throughout treatment. Additionally, School-Based services stepped up to the challenge of using telehealth as a platform to deliver therapy services as schools moved to flexible instruction days because of Covid-19 positivity rates.
